It always excites me when I get to have my full videography and photography krewe with me when we’re shooting a wedding.  It shows me that DVB is growing as a studio and my clients appreciate our work as both photographers and videographers.  It’s a great feeling and being able to give my clients this all in one package is wonderful.  My latest bride and groom to get the full DVB experience was Legrande and Kristy.

I was referred to Kristy from a previous bride and the one thing she told me was she wanted to dance all night at her reception.  She wanted her family and friends to come to her because she wasn’t leaving the dance floor and she held true.  If anyone wanted to say hello and congratulate Kristy on her wedding day, they had to jump in and dance.  It was awesome.  Before we even got to the reception, it had been a great day as I was able to split my team with someone at both Kristy’s prep and LeGrande’s prep.  It worked out perfectly with film and photos for both the bride and groom.

While it was a tad bit cold, the ceremony was a beautiful thing as it was held outside on the steps of a chapel.  The lights from the chapel gave us a perfect backdrop and at one point, I just stopped shooting and took in the moment.  It was amazing and something I will never forget.  Once we finished with all the formal photos, we headed to the reception and as I wrote earlier Kristy was a superstar.  She never left the dance floor and had the time of her life.  Looking back at all the photos and film we shot that day, Kristy is smiling and just living life knowing that she married her best friend and had everyone important to her celebrate with her.  Knowing that I was able to document her day with both photo and video is very rewarding.  It was the best and knowing that I ended my 2013 wedding year on a high note was something I’ll never forget.

I’ve always believed that becoming friends with your clients is an added plus.  This became true Sammy and Kristy.  They were wonderful to work with during all their pre-wedding photos and video and great to hang out with when we had coffee or dinner together.  They are fabulous people and they were at total ease during their wedding with my team and I. Both of them and their families treated us like we were family and just rolled with it for everything we shoot during prep and just enjoyed their wedding and reception.  It was fantastic and great night.  I’m proud to call both Sammy and Kristy my friends and glad that me and my DVB krewe could document the best day of their lives.

One of the great things to being a wedding professional is the ability to see a family grow.  That’s why I was so glad to hear from Heidi when she called and asked me to take Carson’s 1 year old photos.  I hadn’t seen Heidi in some time and was glad to catch up with her on life and her two sons.  It was a treat to meet Carson for the first time and the first thing I noticed was how similar Carson looked like his dad Chad.  It’s almost a spitting image of Chad and Carson was a superstar for his first photo session.

Just like his older brother Mason, Carson loved being in front of camera and was just a photogenic baby.  Every pose that Heidi and I for him, he nailed and best part of the shoot was the candids of Carson just being Carson.  Whether he was playing with his toys or eating his cupcake, Carson was a natural and was great to work with.  I can’t wait for the next time I’m able to shoot Heidi and her family

Every wedding I film or photo has meaning to me, but Traci’s wedding to Nick meant a whole lot to me personally.  I’ve known Traci for over 15 years and she was on my brother’s first high school volleyball team.  Getting a chance to film any of my former volleyball players  is special and capturing these moments for Traci and Nick meant a lot to me.

When I first saw Traci getting ready during her bridal prep was a little weird for me.  As an athlete, I’ve always seen Traci on the court with  her hair pulled up and no makeup.  She was a warrior and it was one the first time that I was blown away seeing how makeup transforms the bride.

Once I got my nerves settled, I got relaxed and started to do what I do best and that’s film.  This was an awesome wedding to film and shoot.  Watching Traci and her dad walk down the aisle was a sight to see and reminded me of why I started in this business, not to make money, but to make lasting memories for all my brides and grooms.  To do this for my friends is icing on the cake.  Please enjoy Traci and Nick’s Closing Montage and some of their photos from the wedding day

Charlie and I go way back to our movie theatre days where he was the manager and I was the floor supervisor.  We worked and hung out a lot back then but once I left to focus on school and my upcoming college graduation, Charlie and I lost touch.  We still managed to hang out some, it became difficult with our schedules always clashing.  Flash forward several years and I run into Charlie’s old girlfriend Jennifer at a coffee shop when I was waiting to meet one of my brides.  I found out that Charlie and Jennifer are now engaged and were looking for a photographer for their wedding.  The next day, I met with Charlie and Jennifer and it felt like old times again and the last thing we talked about was their wedding.  It was all about the movie theatre, staying after hours to watch those movies, and just how young and stupid we were.  It was awesome and so was their wedding.  I’m thankful that I could be a small part of their wedding day and please enjoy some moments from Charlie and Jennifer’s Day

The first time I met Erica and Sean I knew right away that they were good people.  From that first day all the way till their wedding day in April, it was an absolute pleasure to work with them.  I would describe them as easy going and fun.  They were just a blast to hang out with and even better to film and photo their wedding day.

Sean told me at that very first meeting that their wedding was going to be a wild one and it was.  I don’t remember a slow moment during their day and all of Sean and Erica’s friends were dance machine.  They danced to everything played and it was a wonderful day with all their family and friends celebrating their wedding.

I couldn’t ask for a better day for their wedding.  Clear skies for their ceremony and just a rockin reception inside their Fleur de Lis Center in Mandeville.  Please enjoy their closing montage video above and a handful of their wedding photos can be seen on our Facebook Fan Page.  Thank you to Erica and Sean for being great clients and just so damn easy to film and photo.

I’ve known Charlie for nearly 15 years.  We go way back when we both worked at the movie theatre and often went out after our evening shift for a drink or two.  We did that more often then I remember.

It still humbles me when a bride and her mother selects DVB to either film or photo their wedding, but Charlie told me from the start that he only wanted my team to document their wedding.  That just blew me away when Charlie told Jennifer that they need to need to go shopping for videographers and photographers and I was the one for them.  That blew me away and my friendship with Charlie is one that I value the most.

Charlie and Jennifer are getting married on June 29 and I can’t wait for my team to capture their wedding day.  It’s going to be a great day for them and for me personally.  To view more photos of their Engagement Session, please visit our Facebook page.

When I tell potential and future brides that we film from start to finish and offer no time limits on their wedding day, most of them are shocked to hear that.  I believe that when you hire DVB to film and document your wedding, you have me and my staff for the entire day.  We have no place else to be and we just love what we do.

This theory became true a few weeks ago when I hung out with Charlene and Chris for their love story interview and Engagement Session .  We started about two in the afternoon and didn’t end until about 10 that night and I couldn’t ask for a better day.

After finishing their love story interviews, we ventured out and roamed all over downtown New Orleans to take their Engagement Photos.  We had a blast walking along the river and down Bourbon Street just taking photos everywhere.  One of my favorite stops during our session was at Tropical Isle and getting a photo of Charlene and Chris with the Hand Grenade.  It was awesome.

I had a great time with Charlene and Chris and can’t wait to show off their love story video this Fall and film their wedding next year on February 15.  To view more photos from their session, please visit our Facebook page.

Kevin and Stephanie were married back in June but we finally got our schedules to match up last month to shoot their Formal Portraits and they came out smoking.  I remember when Stephanie and I tried to schedule her Bridal Session and we had so much trouble setting up a date for it.  When we finally had it arranged, she had dress problems and when the dress was finally ready, we didn’t have time and the wedding was finally here.  Her Bridal Session would turn into a Formal Session with Kevin and we could never get our schedules to clear.

Close to eight months later, all three of our schedules finally cleared and we were set for their Formal Session at Rivertown.  Everything about this session was great and their finished photos was smoking.  I knew I had something special during their shoot but it wasn’t until I downloaded the set and saw them in Lightroom that these photos were just awesome.  I couldn’t be more happy with the way these photos came out.

I kept thinking back to their wedding day as you could see how much Kevin and Stephanie loved each other.  It looked great on camera and even better in person.  I even stopped posing them as they were coming up with poses on their own and everything just clicked.  It was great.  Both of them have become good friends of mine and I’m glad that I was a small part of their wedding day and during their Formal Session.  For more photos of this session, please visit our Facebook page by clicking here

I’ve always enjoyed going to parties.  Hanging out with family and friends with good food and drinks, what else can you ask for?  I attended a great party last week when I was asked to go to Charlene and Chris’ Surprise Engagement Party.  During my first meeting with Charlene and Chris, they knew they were going to have a Engagement Party but didn’t know when it would be.  Hence, the surprise party.

cc_engagement_01

From the beginning, Charlene mentioned how important this party was to her.  Her entire Bridal Party, her parents, her future in-laws and step-daughter and her son would be there.  Just hearing her talk about them, I knew I had to be at the party to film and shoot it.  It was a great party with very good people.  I really enjoyed myself and it was fun times getting to know everyone there.  This is the first of many wedding activities for Charlene and Chris and I can’t wait to get them infront of the camera for their Engagement and Love Story Sessions.  They are scheduled to get married on February 15, 2014 at Magnolia Plantation.  To view more photos from the Party, please visit our Facebook page
