It seemed like yesterday that I was writing my 2010 post and now it’s time for my 2011 year in review blog.  This past year was an incredible year for us at Weddings by Digital Video Breakdown and we filmed some fantastic weddings during the last 12 months.  One of those weddings included our first destination wedding and having us travel to Rosemary Beach, Florida for Jeanne and Brent’s special day.  Another great day was Emily and Charles’ day and that had the best second line I ever saw; when you see a high school marching band lead the bride and groom through the second line is a sight to see and one of the most funniest times I’ve had at a wedding.  Two weddings were special to me this year and it saw me come full circle as a videographer.  I filmed two of my former volleyball players weddings this year and that was special.  Those two days made my job even more gratifying then it is.  I’ve expressed this often and I feel that I have the best job in the world.

Everything that DVB does is not possible without the assistance of my staff.  We had some comings and goings this year and one of those goings was my first assistant hired, Jenn.  She was with me for three years and she felt it was her time to move on to the career that she studied for. Yet, with every loss there is a gain.  I was happy to welcome new videographers, a few freelance photographers, and an editor to my team that makes DVB an even more diverse and creative bunch.  The DVB Krewe shares my vision for videography and photography and my passion to give our clients everything they need.  To my staff, thank you for all your hard work and for our continued success in 2011.

2012 will mark my eighth year as a wedding professional and I can’t wait to get started and build on the success of 2011.  To all readers of this blog, thank you for taking time to read some of my thoughts on my clients and for my family that supports me.  Happy New Year to everyone and a great 2012.

A few weeks ago I met up with Alexis and Jim for their casual engagement session at City Park.  It was a wonderful afternoon with them and it helped me get to know the soon to be married couple a little bit better.  I’ve always enjoyed getting to know my clients personally and I’ve got to know Alexis and Jim a little more during this session.  I first met Alexis during all the planning for D’Andra and Buddy’s wedding and she was an awesome Maid of Honor for D’Andra.  She kept me in the loopt for everything that was going to happen and was there for anything D’Andra needed during her day.  To describe her job in one word as the Maid of Honor, she was awesome.

I was thrilled when Alexis emailed me asking if I was free to film her wedding to Jim.  I’m always humbled when someone is referred to me or remembers the work I’ve done for their family and friends.  Alexis and Jim are a great couple and I can’t wait  to get them infront of the camera for an upcoming family shoot and their wedding in March.  They are getting married this March 24, 2012

Ever since I finished editing Amanda’s Bridal Session, I wanted to write this blog piece and post some of her bridal portraits. I knew I couldn’t post them until after the wedding and when I got home from her day early Saturday morning, I grew excited.  I knew I could post her bridals for everyone to see.

Amanda was amazing during her portrait session.  She was comfortable and just very relaxed during the whole time Janell and I was with her.  It helped a lot that her mother, maid of honor, and one of her bridesmaid was there to offer support.  Everyone offered ideas on what type of shots we should take and I felt that we hit a home run on everything we did.  It was a great day behind the camera and offered me a sneak peek at what she would be wearing on her wedding day.
