I’m always looking for something extra to do for my clients and hit the wall one day thinking about it.  Then out of the blue, I was invited to a Bridal Shower to take a few photos and then it hit me.  Let’s start covering Bridal Showers.  It felt strange at first being the only guy there, but once everything starts going and I begin filming and taking a few photos it all becomes normal to me.

A few weeks back, Tara called me and asked if I was free for Tanya’s Bridal Shower and thankfully I was.  I was able to meet her mother and mother in law and most of her friends who’ll be at her wedding in two weeks on March 9th.  It was fun seeing Tanya hanging out with her family and friends and she mentioned to me that her wedding is finally becoming real to her when she saw me taking photos and filming her cake and gifts at the shower.  It was there that she was becoming nervous, but also excited for her wedding to Darwin.

I really enjoyed hanging out with Tanya and her family and friends at her shower.  It was good times and just being able to offer something more to my clients is a good feeling.  I can’t wait for Tanya’s wedding in a few weeks to Darwin and it’s going to be a blast.  Please enjoy her Bridal Shower Video above a few photos from her shower below

Mardi Gras and New Orleans go hand in hand.  Growing up in the Big Easy, I’ve experienced my share of Mardi Gras and actually grew very tired of it during college. For a number of years I even scheduled my vacation around carnival and left town for a few days.

Then all of a sudden I regained my carnival spirit when I took my niece to her first parade last year and enjoyed seeing the sights and sounds that is Mardi Gras and New Orleans.  Watching my niece scream and enjoy all the throws she was receiving was a sight to see.  Fast forward to this year and I grew excited about Mardi Gras and everything that it offers.  Besides the great floats, many schools, their cheerleaders and bands are involved in the parade and march with the krewes along the route.

It’s a great time to hang out with the family and just meet new people while catching beads, stuff animals, and enjoying the parade.  Mardi Gras is an event that everyone should experience and it’s the greatest free party in the world.  I love this city and my re-discovery of Mardi Gras with my family and niece.  Happy Mardi Gras to everyone.

The first time I met Erica and Sean, I knew something was up. They couldn’t stop smiling and laughing during our wedding consult and all this was going on at 8 in the morning. As we sat there and talked about their wedding, I knew that their day as going to be a blast.

Erica and Sean brought that same happy attitude to their Engagement Session last week at Audubon Park and they were a blast to work with.  Sean has to be one of the funniest grooms I’ve ever met and it was difficult to keep a straight face on when he decided to do something silly for the camera.  I can only imagine how fun their wedding will be and they said numerous times that their wedding will be the best day of their lives.

Erica and Sean are getting married on April 13 and I can’t wait to be a small part of their day when I film their wedding at the Fleur de Lis Center in Mandeville.  To view more photos from their session, please click here

One of my favorite moments to Kellie and Christi’s Wedding was her reaction to Kellie as Christi walked down the aisle.  It was emotional and brought a tear to my eye when I was editing their video.  It was a powerful moment and I’m glad that my video team was able to capture it.  Both Kellie and Christi have known each other their whole life and have been together as a couple for nearly 17 years.  November 16 will be a day they will remember for the rest of their lives.

During their pre-wedding process, I had become good friends with the both of them and their families.  DVB had filmed and photoed their cousin’s wedding earlier this summer and I felt that I had become a part of their family.  Everytime we meet for a photo or video session, it didn’t feel like work and it was just three friends hanging out.  Their were numerous times this past year that we just meet for coffee and didn’t even talk about the wedding.

This is a great day where I was able to split the DVB team into two sections and I was even able to bring my Laurie, my wedding coordinator, to help me plan out all the events at the wedding and reception.  I couldn’t have ask for a better day and fantastic couple to work with  Kellie and Christi were awesome and their family and friends rocked.  I invite you to enjoy their montage video above and visit the DVB Facebook page to view more photos from the wedding day.

My last session of 2012 was a family sister shoot with Sarah, Emily, and Amanda.  It was fun times and one of the best things about this session is that Sarah is one of my former volleyball players and I’ve known her since her freshman year in high school.  It’s always special for me to work with one of past players and I even coached Sarah during a club volleyball season.  That’s how far back we go.

Another great thing about this shoot was getting to know her sisters Emily and Amanda.  One of the life lessons I’ve learned from my grandfather was getting to know your clients and I have used that as the basis for DVB.  Just like Sarah, Emily and Amanda are great girls and all three of them were very friendly camera friendly.  I noticed during the shoot that Amanda, the youngest of the three, is the wild child and climbed up a tree for her solo pictures.  It made for a great shot and the look on Sarah and Emily as she went up on the tree was priceless.

The one thing I haven’t mentioned is that Sarah is getting married in 2014 and this was just one of many photo and film sessions that I have planned for Sarah, her family, and her fiancee Ray.  I had a great time with these sisters and I can’t wait to be a small part of Sarah’s wedding and capture their moments on film and photos.  To view more photos from their session, please visit our Facebook page at this link

One of my favorite sessions to film and photo with my clients are their love story sessions.  It’s part two of the love story process here at DVB.  The first part is the actual interviews and the second part is usually filming some recreations from their relationship to edit into the actual love story video.  I had a chance to do with Caroline and Rob over the weekend in Baton Rouge.

One of the best things to their session was getting to film them at their gym during one of their bootcamp workouts.  It was fun and completely out of the box.  What bride and groom doesn’t wanna look fit and good for their wedding day, but most would be hesitant to have their videographer there as they didn’t look their best on camera.  Caroline and Rob embraced it and told me that bootcamp is a big part of their relationship and working out together builds their bond to one another.  I didn’t know what to expect when I walked in but I really enjoyed filming this session at the gym.

Once we left the gym and they got cleaned up, we did their second favorite thing to do together.  Hanging out at the pub and enjoying a few drinks.  I guess that’s why you work out, to be able to enjoy a few more drinks and to cheat a little at lunch and dinner.  Seeing Caroline and Rob together was a hoot and I could really see their love for one another.  This is the reason why I enjoying producing love story videos.  It allows me to get to know my clients and just to hang out with them.  I can personally say that I have become deer friends to clients who have done a love story video with DVB.  It’s one of my favorite videos to produce and watching them view the video at their rehearsal dinner is a thrill for me and my DVB staff.

I can’t wait for Caroline and Rob’s Rehearsal Dinner to debut their Love Story to their family and friends.  It kicks off their wedding weekend and everyone gets to hear the story of how they got to their wedding day.  Caroline and Rob are getting married on March 23 and their rehearsal dinner is the Thursday before.

About a week before her wedding, I met Christi and her future Mother in Law, Mrs. Denise, for her bridal session at Longue Vue Gardens.  I couldn’t have asked for a better day then the one we had for Christi.  The past several times I’ve been at Longvue were for video sessions, but this one was a full photography session and I was happy with everything I had planned for Christi.

Longvue is such a great place to shoot with the mansion in the background and all the gardens around it.  Every place is picture perfect and one of my favorite areas is the long fountain.  Capturing the water slow down with Christi in the background made for a beautiful shot.

Words can’t describe how much fun I had with Christi and Mrs. Denise on this shoot.  Please enjoy some our her portraits below and you can view more photos from Christi’s session on our Facebook page by clicking here

Sammy and Kristy are getting married on November 16, 2013 at St. Louis Cathedral and recently I shot their Engagement Photos at their home.  I can honestly say that it was one of the most laid back sessions I’ve ever done.  Both of them are great people to be around and it shows with their Engagement Photos.

I was referred to Kristy by one of my former brides Jeanne and I can’t thank her enough for referring them to me.  One of the great things about both Sammy and Kristy are that they are funny.  I was laughing more at their photo suggestions they wanted and they all came out great.  The photos definitely show off their personality and great sense of humor.

They were both wonderful to work with and I can’t wait to do more with them.  This was just the beginning of our many photo and video sessions leading up to the their wedding next November.  Please enjoy their photos in the post and I can’t wait to post more photo and video of this awesome couple

I remember saying to myself how photogenic Tanya and Darwin were during our mini-engagement session at her grandfather’s church back in April.  Everything went smoothly and all three of us knew that we were going to meet a few weeks later to do full engagement session at their park.

A few weeks turned into a few months as everytime we schedule the shoot, something would always come up and that was rain.  I have to say that this was one of the wettest summers in New Orleans and everytime we scheduled this shoot, it rained and we just couldn’t find a right time to shoot.  I was getting frustrated and I know Tanya was getting tired of having to reschedule this shoot, but once we finally found a clear day to shoot, it was absolutely perfect.

The skies were clear and we could ask for a more better day then we did.  Just as we did back in April, Tanya and Darwin were picture perfect in their smiles and were an absolute joy to work with.  I can’t wait till begin their love story video later this fall to be shown at their rehearsal dinner in March.  To view more from their engagement session, please visit our Facebook fan page at this link.

Kevin and Stephanie were married on June 9, 2012 at Smilie’s Restaurant in Harahan and it was a great day for all their family and friends to celebrate their day together.  It was such a fun day for my staff and I and it all began when Ashley and I went to Lakeside to get Stephanie as she was putting on her makeup.

I’ve also enjoyed Bridal Prep as it’s the start of a great day to come.  While Stephanie was at mall, I had Jen and Janell go over to the guys house for his prep and it’s always a trip to hear what the guys are doing as they wait.  Kevin and his groomsmen were like any other guys as they hanged out and just drank the afternoon away.  They had a good time before heading to the restaurant for the wedding

One of my favorite moments to any wedding is when the bride arrives for the wedding.  It’s that one moment when her dad helps her out of the limo and your seconds away from the wedding.  For Stephanie, her dad rented a convertible for the both them and had a short drive from the house to the restaurant.

Once everyone was inside, the ceremony took place and it was a beautiful and lovely wedding.  Stephanie looked like a rock star and held back tears for most of the wedding, but tears are a good thing.  They were tears of joy

Once the reception started, it was a rocking good time.  Stephanie and Kevin’s friends knew how to party and dance.  I don’t think there was one time when the dance floor wasn’t empty.  It was a great time and I’m glad that my staff and I were a small part to their wedding day.  Please enjoy their closing montage above and some of their wedding photos here.  You can view more photos from Stephanie and Kevin’s day on our Facebook fan page.  Please click here to visit the page
