I thought my 2013 Wedding Season concluded with Legrande and Kristy’s wedding but I was mistaken when I received an email from Michele checking on my availability for her wedding. Thankfully I was free and this was a fun wedding to shoot.

This was the first Jewish wedding ceremony I ever filmed and one of the great things about being a wedding professional is the exposure you get from filming different types of wedding ceremonies and traditions.  I enjoyed learning something new and being able to film this wedding was a great experience for me.

Michele and Ben were a great couple to work with and getting a chance to meet their family and friends made it better.  Michele asked that I walk around and try to get well wishes from her family and friends at the reception and normally guests are shy to talk to the camera, but not Michele and Ben’s guests.  All were willing to grab the mic and step in front the camera and wish the newlyweds their best.  It was wonderful and every interview spoke on how good Michele and Ben were as friends, as a brother and sister and just how good people they were.I enjoyed getting these soundbites and hearing them again during the edit process.

I can now say that my 2013 Wedding Season is now concluded with Michele and Ben and please enjoy their wedding montage above and can’t wait for my 2014 Wedding Year to start

One of the great things to being a wedding professional is the ability to see a family grow.  That’s why I was so glad to hear from Heidi when she called and asked me to take Carson’s 1 year old photos.  I hadn’t seen Heidi in some time and was glad to catch up with her on life and her two sons.  It was a treat to meet Carson for the first time and the first thing I noticed was how similar Carson looked like his dad Chad.  It’s almost a spitting image of Chad and Carson was a superstar for his first photo session.

Just like his older brother Mason, Carson loved being in front of camera and was just a photogenic baby.  Every pose that Heidi and I for him, he nailed and best part of the shoot was the candids of Carson just being Carson.  Whether he was playing with his toys or eating his cupcake, Carson was a natural and was great to work with.  I can’t wait for the next time I’m able to shoot Heidi and her family

One of the best things in working Sarah and Kevin’s Wedding in June was getting to know them throughout their whole wedding planning process.  I’ve always made it a point to get to know my clients but this was easier said then done because both Sarah and Kevin are teachers at Ursuline Academy.  Besides my brother working there and my niece in their toddler program, I also freelance for the Academy as both a videographer and photographer at their athletic events and school-wide functions.  Everytime I was at school, I would see both Sarah and Kevin and the last thing we would chat about would be the wedding.  It would be about school, life, and everything is.  It was great and when we finally got to business, it was more about just hanging out with friends.

Sarah and Kevin’s wedding was a great day.  Both of them were as calm and easy going throughout the day.  They didn’t seem nervous and enjoyed every minute of their wedding and reception.  It was a great day and I really enjoyed seeing two friends get married and starting their life together.  Please enjoy their closing montage video above.

One of my joys in  filming someone’s wedding is getting to know the couple throughout their wedding planning process.  I enjoy getting to know new people and I feel that the more invested you are to a couple, the better their wedding film will be.  For Courtney and Alan, I didn’t get that process but there is a reason for that.  First off, Alan called me about two weeks before the wedding and I’m happy that I was free for his wedding.  It was a blast to film their day and one of the lasting memories I will remember from their wedding was at their rehearsal mass.

Towards the end of  mass, Alan walks over and introduces me to Courtney.  She had no idea who I was and Alan then tells her that I’m the videographer and her reaction was priceless.  She was stunned and thrilled to have her day filmed and their day was a blast.  Their family and friends were great to hang out with and I couldn’t complain about anything of their day.  It was great.  Please enjoy their closing montage above and many thanks for Courtney and Alan for having us on their wedding day.

Erin and Bryan got married on April 27, 2013 at St. Louis Cathedral and the Omni Hotel and it was a perfect day to film.  Their wedding weekend got off to a great start with the rehearsal dinner and just flowed into their wedding day.  I couldn’t ask for a better day for Erin and Bryan and enjoyed everything I did for them.  From their engagement session, their love story, and on their wedding, Erin and Bryan was such a treat to work with and their wedding and reception was a blast to film.  Please enjoy their closing montage film above and thanks to Erin and Bryan for having my staff and I there to film their day.

I’ve known Charlie for nearly 15 years.  We go way back when we both worked at the movie theatre and often went out after our evening shift for a drink or two.  We did that more often then I remember.

It still humbles me when a bride and her mother selects DVB to either film or photo their wedding, but Charlie told me from the start that he only wanted my team to document their wedding.  That just blew me away when Charlie told Jennifer that they need to need to go shopping for videographers and photographers and I was the one for them.  That blew me away and my friendship with Charlie is one that I value the most.

Charlie and Jennifer are getting married on June 29 and I can’t wait for my team to capture their wedding day.  It’s going to be a great day for them and for me personally.  To view more photos of their Engagement Session, please visit our Facebook page.

Caroline and Rob were married on March 23 at St. Rosalie’s Church on the Westbank and they held their reception at the Board of Trade in New Orleans.  The was a great day and we started it off with their prep and both Caroline and Rob seemed calm and easygoing.

One of my favorite parts of the day was their first look and you can see at that time they were were ready to see each other.  It was a beautiful moment to watch Caroline make that long walk and tap Rob on his shoulder for them to see each other for the first time in her wedding dress and his tux.  It was a sight to see.

Once that was over and their nerves were settled, we had a beautiful wedding at St. Rosalie and a rocking reception.  Caroline and Rob had the time of their lives on the dance floor and greeting all their family and guests throughout the night.  I couldn’t ask for a better couple to film and wish them a great start to their life together.  Please enjoy their closing montage video above and some photos from their day.

When I tell potential and future brides that we film from start to finish and offer no time limits on their wedding day, most of them are shocked to hear that.  I believe that when you hire DVB to film and document your wedding, you have me and my staff for the entire day.  We have no place else to be and we just love what we do.

This theory became true a few weeks ago when I hung out with Charlene and Chris for their love story interview and Engagement Session .  We started about two in the afternoon and didn’t end until about 10 that night and I couldn’t ask for a better day.

After finishing their love story interviews, we ventured out and roamed all over downtown New Orleans to take their Engagement Photos.  We had a blast walking along the river and down Bourbon Street just taking photos everywhere.  One of my favorite stops during our session was at Tropical Isle and getting a photo of Charlene and Chris with the Hand Grenade.  It was awesome.

I had a great time with Charlene and Chris and can’t wait to show off their love story video this Fall and film their wedding next year on February 15.  To view more photos from their session, please visit our Facebook page.

I’ve always enjoyed going to parties.  Hanging out with family and friends with good food and drinks, what else can you ask for?  I attended a great party last week when I was asked to go to Charlene and Chris’ Surprise Engagement Party.  During my first meeting with Charlene and Chris, they knew they were going to have a Engagement Party but didn’t know when it would be.  Hence, the surprise party.

From the beginning, Charlene mentioned how important this party was to her.  Her entire Bridal Party, her parents, her future in-laws and step-daughter and her son would be there.  Just hearing her talk about them, I knew I had to be at the party to film and shoot it.  It was a great party with very good people.  I really enjoyed myself and it was fun times getting to know everyone there.  This is the first of many wedding activities for Charlene and Chris and I can’t wait to get them infront of the camera for their Engagement and Love Story Sessions.  They are scheduled to get married on February 15, 2014 at Magnolia Plantation.  To view more photos from the Party, please visit our Facebook page

Mardi Gras and New Orleans go hand in hand.  Growing up in the Big Easy, I’ve experienced my share of Mardi Gras and actually grew very tired of it during college. For a number of years I even scheduled my vacation around carnival and left town for a few days.

Then all of a sudden I regained my carnival spirit when I took my niece to her first parade last year and enjoyed seeing the sights and sounds that is Mardi Gras and New Orleans.  Watching my niece scream and enjoy all the throws she was receiving was a sight to see.  Fast forward to this year and I grew excited about Mardi Gras and everything that it offers.  Besides the great floats, many schools, their cheerleaders and bands are involved in the parade and march with the krewes along the route.

It’s a great time to hang out with the family and just meet new people while catching beads, stuff animals, and enjoying the parade.  Mardi Gras is an event that everyone should experience and it’s the greatest free party in the world.  I love this city and my re-discovery of Mardi Gras with my family and niece.  Happy Mardi Gras to everyone.
