One of my favorite sessions to film and photo with my clients are their love story sessions.  It’s part two of the love story process here at DVB.  The first part is the actual interviews and the second part is usually filming some recreations from their relationship to edit into the actual love story video.  I had a chance to do with Caroline and Rob over the weekend in Baton Rouge.

One of the best things to their session was getting to film them at their gym during one of their bootcamp workouts.  It was fun and completely out of the box.  What bride and groom doesn’t wanna look fit and good for their wedding day, but most would be hesitant to have their videographer there as they didn’t look their best on camera.  Caroline and Rob embraced it and told me that bootcamp is a big part of their relationship and working out together builds their bond to one another.  I didn’t know what to expect when I walked in but I really enjoyed filming this session at the gym.

Once we left the gym and they got cleaned up, we did their second favorite thing to do together.  Hanging out at the pub and enjoying a few drinks.  I guess that’s why you work out, to be able to enjoy a few more drinks and to cheat a little at lunch and dinner.  Seeing Caroline and Rob together was a hoot and I could really see their love for one another.  This is the reason why I enjoying producing love story videos.  It allows me to get to know my clients and just to hang out with them.  I can personally say that I have become deer friends to clients who have done a love story video with DVB.  It’s one of my favorite videos to produce and watching them view the video at their rehearsal dinner is a thrill for me and my DVB staff.

I can’t wait for Caroline and Rob’s Rehearsal Dinner to debut their Love Story to their family and friends.  It kicks off their wedding weekend and everyone gets to hear the story of how they got to their wedding day.  Caroline and Rob are getting married on March 23 and their rehearsal dinner is the Thursday before.

About a week before her wedding, I met Christi and her future Mother in Law, Mrs. Denise, for her bridal session at Longue Vue Gardens.  I couldn’t have asked for a better day then the one we had for Christi.  The past several times I’ve been at Longvue were for video sessions, but this one was a full photography session and I was happy with everything I had planned for Christi.

Longvue is such a great place to shoot with the mansion in the background and all the gardens around it.  Every place is picture perfect and one of my favorite areas is the long fountain.  Capturing the water slow down with Christi in the background made for a beautiful shot.

Words can’t describe how much fun I had with Christi and Mrs. Denise on this shoot.  Please enjoy some our her portraits below and you can view more photos from Christi’s session on our Facebook page by clicking here

Sammy and Kristy are getting married on November 16, 2013 at St. Louis Cathedral and recently I shot their Engagement Photos at their home.  I can honestly say that it was one of the most laid back sessions I’ve ever done.  Both of them are great people to be around and it shows with their Engagement Photos.

I was referred to Kristy by one of my former brides Jeanne and I can’t thank her enough for referring them to me.  One of the great things about both Sammy and Kristy are that they are funny.  I was laughing more at their photo suggestions they wanted and they all came out great.  The photos definitely show off their personality and great sense of humor.

They were both wonderful to work with and I can’t wait to do more with them.  This was just the beginning of our many photo and video sessions leading up to the their wedding next November.  Please enjoy their photos in the post and I can’t wait to post more photo and video of this awesome couple

Words can’t describe Allyce and Brady’s Wedding but I’m going to try in this blog post.  The one thing I remember Allyce and Brady telling me was that they wanted a fun wedding video and the fun started at the Rehearsal Dinner at Superior Grill.  It was one of the funniest rehearsal dinners I’ve been too and Brady’s twin brother Cory started the wedding activities right with an awesome best man speech.  You can view his speech at this link

Everything about Allyce and Brady’s Wedding was fun.  They were both laid back and calm throughout their prep and their wedding at Holy Name of Jesus was beautiful.  The reception was at the nearby Audubon Tea Room and continued the fun theme.  They had a photo booth which creates silliness and fun photos and had a band that just rocked the house.  I can’t say enough words how great Louisiana Spice was at the reception.  They totally rocked and I enjoyed working again with CheyAnne from Arte De Vie as she taking all her great photos.  Fun, that’s the one word that describes Allyce and Brady’s wedding and I’m proud to be a small part of their day.  Please enjoy their closing montage video and I wish nothing but the best for Allyce and Brady.

It’s not often that I get to film a wedding at my local church, but on Stephanie and Michael’s Day I was able to.  I attend mass at St. Francis of Assissi and have always wondered how good the church would look on film.  To no surprise, it was gorgeous for Stephanie and Michael’s Wedding.  St. Francis is such a pretty church and I was surprised to learn that my next door neighbor is the wedding coordinator there.

Stephanie and Michael had a great wedding at the church and their reception at the nearby Audubon Tea Room was exceptional.  Louisiana Spice provided great entertainment with their sound and it’s always a pleasure to work to Kevin at Creative Images.  I enjoyed Stephanie and Michael’s Day and one of the funnier parts of the day was seeing Michael get down on the dance floor to a Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean and he even used a hat for his prop during the dance.  Fun times.  Please enjoy their highlight montage above and I wish Stephanie and Michael nothing but the best, they had a fantastic wedding day.

Kevin and Stephanie were married on June 9, 2012 at Smilie’s Restaurant in Harahan and it was a great day for all their family and friends to celebrate their day together.  It was such a fun day for my staff and I and it all began when Ashley and I went to Lakeside to get Stephanie as she was putting on her makeup.

I’ve also enjoyed Bridal Prep as it’s the start of a great day to come.  While Stephanie was at mall, I had Jen and Janell go over to the guys house for his prep and it’s always a trip to hear what the guys are doing as they wait.  Kevin and his groomsmen were like any other guys as they hanged out and just drank the afternoon away.  They had a good time before heading to the restaurant for the wedding

One of my favorite moments to any wedding is when the bride arrives for the wedding.  It’s that one moment when her dad helps her out of the limo and your seconds away from the wedding.  For Stephanie, her dad rented a convertible for the both them and had a short drive from the house to the restaurant.

Once everyone was inside, the ceremony took place and it was a beautiful and lovely wedding.  Stephanie looked like a rock star and held back tears for most of the wedding, but tears are a good thing.  They were tears of joy

Once the reception started, it was a rocking good time.  Stephanie and Kevin’s friends knew how to party and dance.  I don’t think there was one time when the dance floor wasn’t empty.  It was a great time and I’m glad that my staff and I were a small part to their wedding day.  Please enjoy their closing montage above and some of their wedding photos here.  You can view more photos from Stephanie and Kevin’s day on our Facebook fan page.  Please click here to visit the page

Alexis and Jim were married on March 24 in New Orleans at Lady of Guadalupe Church with their reception at the Royal Sonesta.  This was a fantastic day and one that I was glad to be apart of.

When Alexis emailed me looking for a videographer, I was excited to hear from her.  I had filmed her best friend’s wedding and D’Andra and Buddy’s wedding was one of my funniest weddings to work.  Knowing Alexis from their wedding just made everything about their day fun and exciting for me.  I knew this was going to be a great day.

One of the best aspects of this wedding was their first look outside their Bridal Suite.  Everything went perfect and I knew that Alexis and Jim were nervous about the first look and when they finally saw each other dressed up, the look on their faces tell it out.  You could see happiness, excitement and a sense of calm on their faces when they saw each other for the first time.  It was great.

After that, everything just went perfectly.  Jim and his groomsmen were all dressed up in the Marine uniforms and Alexis and her bridesmaids were flawless.  I loved everything about this wedding from their first look, the sword ceremony to bring the reception, and Alexis and Jim dancing on stage with the band.  It was perfect and I’m glad that Alexis and Jim choose me and my staff to be a small part of their day.  Please enjoy their closing montage above and a few photos from their rehearsal dinner and wedding day.

The First Kiss after the First Look

Loan and Tot opened our 2012 Wedding Season with a spectacular day on January 7, 2012 in Baton Rouge.  I loved everything about Loan and Tot’s wedding day.  It started early in the morning with Loan’s Bridal Prep and went straight into the traditional Vietnamese Tea Ceremony at her parents home.

I really enjoy the tradition of the tea ceremony with the groom’s family coming to the bride’s home with food, gifts, and drinks.  It was a great sight especially with Loan becoming really emotional when she heard her brother and father talk about their love for her.

Following the ceremony at St. Anthony, they had a mini break in-between the start of the reception. Loan and Tot had close family and friends come back to their house for a family style lunch.  This was a great idea.  We’ve often rushing from the church to the reception hall, but this allowed us to take our time and take a breathe following the ceremony.

After lunch, we headed to the reception hall to get ready.  One of my favorite aspects of Vietnamese weddings is having the Bride and Groom greet every guest at the reception and take a photo with them.  This is wonderful idea and it allows the couple to see everyone at their reception.

Following the greeting of the guests, we have the introductions of both families by the MC and dinner.  The food was delicious and it prepared for the favorite part of Asian weddings that I love to film and photo.

With over 700 guests, Loan and Tot walked to each table to receive the gifts and hear table speeches for someone at the table.  Filming this is always a challenge and with over 45 tables, it was wild.  Along with the speech, the table also toast the couple with glasses of wine or shots of alcohol.  It’s a sight that you have to experience.  This was my third Vietnamese wedding and the thrill of filming and shooting the table speeches is a great one.

I enjoyed every aspect of this wedding and this was a great start to our 2012 Wedding Season

Kendle and Hunter was my last wedding of 2011 and it was a great way to end the year.  They were married at the Mater Dolorosa Church uptown and held a great reception at the Pavilion of Two Sisters in City Park on December 10, 2011.

One of the cool aspects of Kendle’s wedding was that she was a bridesmaid for one of my past brides.  During my consult with her mother, she quickly spotted Kendle in one of my video samples and once she saw Kendle, she booked me on the spot.  That was one of my easiest pitches and it was absolute pleasure working with Kendle and Hunter on their wedding day.

I remember getting a phone call late one night and it was Amanda looking for a videographer for her wedding on December 9, 2011.  She mentioned that she referred to me by several of my former brides and liked what she saw on the website and Facebook pages.  After talking more about her wedding, we set up a consult and the rest was history.

Starting with their engagement shoot, the love story process, and on their wedding day, Amanda and Chris were an absolute joy to work with.  They were just so easy to be around and receptive to all my ideas during our photo and video sessions.  It didn’t seem like work, but like I was hanging out with friends.  I’m thankful that my staff and I were a small part to their day and we were able to document it on film and photo.  Please enjoy their closing montage above and a few of their wedding photos below.
