One of my favorite sessions to film and photo with my clients are their love story sessions.  It’s part two of the love story process here at DVB.  The first part is the actual interviews and the second part is usually filming some recreations from their relationship to edit into the actual love story video.  I had a chance to do with Caroline and Rob over the weekend in Baton Rouge.

One of the best things to their session was getting to film them at their gym during one of their bootcamp workouts.  It was fun and completely out of the box.  What bride and groom doesn’t wanna look fit and good for their wedding day, but most would be hesitant to have their videographer there as they didn’t look their best on camera.  Caroline and Rob embraced it and told me that bootcamp is a big part of their relationship and working out together builds their bond to one another.  I didn’t know what to expect when I walked in but I really enjoyed filming this session at the gym.

Once we left the gym and they got cleaned up, we did their second favorite thing to do together.  Hanging out at the pub and enjoying a few drinks.  I guess that’s why you work out, to be able to enjoy a few more drinks and to cheat a little at lunch and dinner.  Seeing Caroline and Rob together was a hoot and I could really see their love for one another.  This is the reason why I enjoying producing love story videos.  It allows me to get to know my clients and just to hang out with them.  I can personally say that I have become deer friends to clients who have done a love story video with DVB.  It’s one of my favorite videos to produce and watching them view the video at their rehearsal dinner is a thrill for me and my DVB staff.

I can’t wait for Caroline and Rob’s Rehearsal Dinner to debut their Love Story to their family and friends.  It kicks off their wedding weekend and everyone gets to hear the story of how they got to their wedding day.  Caroline and Rob are getting married on March 23 and their rehearsal dinner is the Thursday before.

There’s something about filming and shooting in a new venue that excites me.  When Jessica and Brad mentioned that their wedding and reception would be at St. Stephen’s Church and the Foundry on April 21, I was excited to be able to film in a new location.  That was great and I even got to film and shoot in a new rehearsal dinner location at Seymours in Harahan.

Everything about Jessica and Brad’s wedding weekend was fantastic.  They had a awesome rehearsal at Seymours with great speeches from their best man, maid and matron of honor, and Jessica’s Father.  It was heartwarming and started the weekend right.

The wedding day on Saturday was great day.  Ashley, Brianna, Janell and I got there early to start Jessica’s Bridal Prep it was just perfect.  Her dress, accessories, and everything else was laid out for us and we began to shoot.  I loved that and then we were able to catch Jessica open her gift from Brad and it was perfect.  We got her opening the gift and her reaction from it.

After that Ashley and I headed to Brad’s house and we got lucky as Brad was opening his gift from Jessica and I knew this was going to be a great day when we were able to catch both the bride and groom opening their gifts to each other.

Nothing could go wrong after that and we had a picture perfect wedding at St. Stephen and The Foundry.  I loved everything about Jessica and Brad’s Wedding.  They had an awesome group of friends that were supportive and just fun to hang with.  It didn’t seem like I was working that day, but hanging out with a good group of people celebrating Jessica and Brad’s day.  It was wonderful and I’m humbled that they had us document their wedding day.

 The First Dance

Alexis and Jim were married on March 24 in New Orleans at Lady of Guadalupe Church with their reception at the Royal Sonesta.  This was a fantastic day and one that I was glad to be apart of.

When Alexis emailed me looking for a videographer, I was excited to hear from her.  I had filmed her best friend’s wedding and D’Andra and Buddy’s wedding was one of my funniest weddings to work.  Knowing Alexis from their wedding just made everything about their day fun and exciting for me.  I knew this was going to be a great day.

One of the best aspects of this wedding was their first look outside their Bridal Suite.  Everything went perfect and I knew that Alexis and Jim were nervous about the first look and when they finally saw each other dressed up, the look on their faces tell it out.  You could see happiness, excitement and a sense of calm on their faces when they saw each other for the first time.  It was great.

After that, everything just went perfectly.  Jim and his groomsmen were all dressed up in the Marine uniforms and Alexis and her bridesmaids were flawless.  I loved everything about this wedding from their first look, the sword ceremony to bring the reception, and Alexis and Jim dancing on stage with the band.  It was perfect and I’m glad that Alexis and Jim choose me and my staff to be a small part of their day.  Please enjoy their closing montage above and a few photos from their rehearsal dinner and wedding day.

The First Kiss after the First Look

When I first heard that Heather and Gary were high school sweethearts, I knew they had a great story to tell.  They’ve been together over 9 years and we had a great session at the firehouse Gary works at and at Lafreniere Park for their location shoot.  As we were walking around, they saw the carousel and mentioned that they never been on one before.  I jumped on the opportunity and placed them on the carousel and we got some great footage of them riding on it. It was a pleasure creating their video and showing it to them at Bayou des Familles for their family and friends at their rehearsal dinner.  Please enjoy their video below

Close to 100 people attended Jeanne and Brent’s Rehearsal Dinner at Smokehouse BBQ in Destin, Florida with Jenn, Jen, and I there to film and photo the events.  We started off at Rosemary Beach as everyone was enjoying the beautiful scenery and playing in the sand.  It was fun and then we drove to Destin for the dinner at Smokehouse BBQ and the food was absolutely delicious that was topped off with a Krispy Krewe cake that was built with 18 dozen chocolate and glaze donuts.

We provided entertainment for the night with a slideshow from their childhood and then they viewed their Love Story Video that brought a tear to both Jeanne and Brent.  We then heard multiple speeches from Brent’s dad, his best man Charles, and a great heartfelt speech from Jeanne’s sister and maid of honor Rhonda.  It was a beautiful start to their wedding weekend and please enjoy Rhonda’s speech and several photos from their rehearsal day.

Charles and Emily held their rehearsal dinner on February 17 at the Pelican Club in the French Quarter.  It was a great night with both of their families coming together to celebrate their wedding two days later at the Cathedral and Mardi Gras World.  I had fun spending time with them before their wedding and please enjoy a few pictures from their rehearsal below.

Becky and Brice held their rehearsal dinner on December 2 at Andrea’s Restaurant.  It was a small and intimate gathering of family friends with Becky’s Maids of Honor Renee and Kristy giving speeches and Brice’s friend Drexel delivering his best man speeches.  Please enjoy their speeches and some photos from the rehearsal.  To view more photos from the rehearsal and their wedding on December 4, please visit our facebook page

I couldn’t be more happier with the way 2010 worked out for us at Weddings by Digital Video Breakdown. Everything that I hoped for, we accomplished and it benefited the people that mattered the most; our clients.

2010 was an incredible year that saw us film priceless moments. I’ve never forget our first wedding of the year when Dale broke down during his vows and started crying; the amazing dance that D’Andra and her bridesmaids surprised Buddy with; Timmy crying during every step that Jonee took coming down the aisle with her father and the look of Becky and Brice’s face when they saw each other for the first time during the first look session. These are the moments that stand out to me but there are hundred more that I could write about.

I could not have done any of this on my own and would like to thank my staff for all hard work and dedication to the craft of videography and photography. To Janell, Jenn, Emily, and Jen, thank you for everything and we will continue to develop new concepts and techniques for our client’s enjoyment.

I can’t wait for the start of 2011 as we will grow from everything we did in 2010. To everyone out there, Have a Happy New Year and below is a collage our my dependable staff working through the year. Many thank go out to Ray Taix of the Brothers Taix Photography for his great design on the collage

I enjoy going to rehearsal dinners and filming the speeches given by family members and friends.  It allows me to get to know other members of the bridal party and it’s just a good time.  This was great as I’m good friends with both Jason and Adrienne  and I was humbled when they asked me to film and document their wedding.  The rehearsal is always the start to a great weekend and both Ray and Claire delivered emotional and heart felt speeches to their brother and sister.  Please enjoy their speeches above and some photos below of their rehearsal dinner.

Michelle and David held their rehearsal dinner at Crescent City Brewhouse in the French Quarter last Thursday.  It was a fun night with both Michelle and David’s families coming together to celebrate their wedding the following night. We heard heartfelt toasts from David’s brother Roy, Michelle’s sister Jen and her father Mr. Wilson.  It was a great night that ended with their love story video.
