I remember getting a phone call late one night and it was Amanda looking for a videographer for her wedding on December 9, 2011.  She mentioned that she referred to me by several of my former brides and liked what she saw on the website and Facebook pages.  After talking more about her wedding, we set up a consult and the rest was history.

Starting with their engagement shoot, the love story process, and on their wedding day, Amanda and Chris were an absolute joy to work with.  They were just so easy to be around and receptive to all my ideas during our photo and video sessions.  It didn’t seem like work, but like I was hanging out with friends.  I’m thankful that my staff and I were a small part to their day and we were able to document it on film and photo.  Please enjoy their closing montage above and a few of their wedding photos below.

I love the fact that Tanya and Darwin are getting married in her grandfather’s church and that her grandfather is actually going to marry them.  How awesome is that?  My grandparents were very special to me and hearing that Tanya’s Grandfather would be marrying them just blew me away.

I then asked Tanya if she wanted to do a Engagement Session at the church and she quickly jumped on the idea.  On the day of her shoot, I was able to met her aunt and grandfather at the church and all of us were able to walk around the church and see how beautiful it was.

They are getting married on Match 9, 2013 and this session was the start of our numerous photo and film sessions leading up to their big day.  To view more photos from this day, please visit our Facebook fan page.

I get excited when I get a chance to film the wedding of one of my former volleyball players.  This time around, I was able to film Jen’s wedding to Sal on December 3 and it was a great day for those two.  I’ve known Jen and her family since she was high school and being able to catch up with them during the entire wedding planning process was a treat.

I always laugh when filming prep.  It’s just a different feeling when I leave the girls’ house and head to the guys.  They were laid back and the funniest moment of his prep was watching the guys play beer pong and Sal getting iced.  The look on his face was priceless and it was a great start to the day.

This wedding was so much fun to be apart of.  Everything just worked out perfectly and I couldn’t ask for a better day for my staff to film and photo.  Their ceremony was beautiful and the reception was rocking.  Congratulations to Jen and Sal for a wonderful wedding and reception

I remember during one of my first meetings with Heather and Gary, he mentioned to me the Jager Gator.  It’s a dance that centers around Jagermeister and it was one of the most wildest dances I’ve ever filmed and shoot.  It was wild and one of the many highlights of Heather and Gary’s Wedding on November 19 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor on the Westbank and Generations Hall.

It all started off with Heather and Gary surprising the reception with an impromptu bridal party dance during the middle of the first dance.  This was a great start to the reception and it just kept rolling and rolling throughout the night.    Some other highlights besides the Jager Gator was Gary rapping on stage to Ice Ice Baby with the band, a touching speech by Gary’s bestman, and a second line that went up to the 2nd floor of Generation Hall and around.  It was a great night for Heather and Gary

Jeanne-Marie and Brett had a fantastic wedding day at the Balcony last November 12.  Everything just worked that day when we arrived at her house for bridal prep and it flowed even better when I went to the guys house for Brett’s prep.  I loved every minute of their wedding and everything that we did before their special day.

I was first introduced to them by Jeanne-Marie’s brother in law Rick.  He wanted to give something special to Jeanne-Marie and he did.  Rick booked me to film her wedding as his gift to her and was she surprised by his generosity.  It was the first time that I’ve had anyone other then the bride or her parents book me for her wedding and it was a sight to see her face when I told she was having her wedding filmed and that Rick was responsible for it.

I loved everything about their day.  From them jumping the first kiss before they were officially married to Jeanne-Marie’s nephew stealing the dance floor during the reception.  It was wonderful times and I’m glad that my staff had a little part of her always remembering her day on film.

I read online that over 50,000 couples worldwide got married on November 11, 2011.  I can assume that any videographer or photographer not working that day didn’t try hard enough not to book the date.  Before I even knew about 11-11-11, I was already booked.  Jessica and Cody had booked me some 18 months in advance knowing this was going to be a popular day and it was a fantastic wedding to film.

They were married at Cedar Groove Tchoupitoulas Plantation and it was a beautiful outdoor ceremony.  One of my favorite parts to a wedding is seeing the groom’s reaction when his bride comes out and walks the aisle with her father.  When I reviewed the first the first time, you could see Cody nervous but then beam with excitement as Jessica was getting closer and closer to him.  That was one of  many great moments during their wedding that saw their money dance never end but morph into a line dance.  Jessica and Cody had the perfect day and I’m glad that I was a small part it.

There’s just something about the culture and tradition of filming Vietnamese weddings that I love.  It’s an all day affair and it’s something to experience.  Sean and Brady got married on October 22 and their whole wedding weekend was a joy to film and photo.  We started their weekend in Lafayette filming their Tea Ceremony.  It was a beautiful ceremony to get us started for the wedding on Saturday and their day was an awesome one.

Janell and I started Saturday with Brandy and her makeup artiest for Bridal Prep and it was such a welcome relief not to be in a crowded salon, but only have the four of us there.  It gave us time to talk details about the wedding and we got some great footage of Brandy doing her hair and makeup.  This was a great start to our day and I can talk and write forever on how great this wedding was.

I love the idea of having only family and close friends at the wedding and then having a full blown reception of close to 500 at your hall.  It’s an experience and it’s one of the reason why I love filming Vietnamese and Asian style weddings.  Sean and Brandy were a great couple to work with and everything we did was fun.  From there engagement shoot last April to their Tea Ceremony in Lafayette and their wedding, it was a blast.  Please enjoy some of their photos in the blog and their closing montage above.

I enjoy getting phone calls or texts from previous clients.  It nice to catch up with them after their wedding and see how life has changed since the wedding.  I got several of those calls during the holiday season and it was great to catch up with two of my former brides, Katherine and Emily.  Both of them were looking for holiday cards to mail out to family and friends and I was happy to meet them out and take a few photos.

Ever since our first shoot together on their Save the Date Video, I have built a very good friendship with Katherine and her husband Brian.  They were an absolute joy to work with and their friendship is one I truly value.  Just like everything else we did for their wedding videos and photos, their Christmas Card shoot was a blast.  I got to see their new home and their newest addition to their family Dixie.  We snapped photos around the house and neighborhood and it was really good to hang out with them again.

Emily and Charles were my first wedding in 2011 and had one of the best moments I’ve captured on film.  The start to the reception was awesome as they had a marching band lead them out in a second line and was just a sight to see.  I caught up with Emily and Charles a quick photo session for the New Year’s Cards.  It was great to see them again and their dog Natalie.  They are such a photogenic couple and it reminded me of our time at Mardi Gras World for their engagement session.  All their photos came out great and just being able to spend some time with them made for an enjoyable day.

I love hearing from my past clients.  Whether its for coffee, a drink, or an ongoing text conversation, it makes me feel good to know that my clients wanna get in touch and let me know how their doing.  It’s a great feeling to have and puts a smile on my face.

I always enjoy working on love story interviews.  It allows me the opportunity to get to know my clients better and to hear their story from the beginning of their relationship all the way to the wedding day.The whole creative process of the video is a joy to work on and I loved hearing Meagan and Ryan’s story during their love story session.  They had mentioned to me that they were high school sweethearts and those are some of the best stories to hear.  I love the fact that they met during their first day of school as freshmen, were friends all through that and finally started going out just before graduation.  They had a great story and one of the best parts to their session was Meagan’s back yard.

We normally venture out to different locations to film portions of the love story, but Meagan suggested her back yard and it was beautiful.  She had about two acres of land and my favorite area was her deck that overlooked the swamp.  It was awesome and gave us wonderful footage to film and take great photos.  Meagan and Ryan have been fantastic to work with and I can’t wait to show them their love story video and film their wedding.  They are getting married on March 3, 2012.

It seemed like yesterday that I was writing my 2010 post and now it’s time for my 2011 year in review blog.  This past year was an incredible year for us at Weddings by Digital Video Breakdown and we filmed some fantastic weddings during the last 12 months.  One of those weddings included our first destination wedding and having us travel to Rosemary Beach, Florida for Jeanne and Brent’s special day.  Another great day was Emily and Charles’ day and that had the best second line I ever saw; when you see a high school marching band lead the bride and groom through the second line is a sight to see and one of the most funniest times I’ve had at a wedding.  Two weddings were special to me this year and it saw me come full circle as a videographer.  I filmed two of my former volleyball players weddings this year and that was special.  Those two days made my job even more gratifying then it is.  I’ve expressed this often and I feel that I have the best job in the world.

Everything that DVB does is not possible without the assistance of my staff.  We had some comings and goings this year and one of those goings was my first assistant hired, Jenn.  She was with me for three years and she felt it was her time to move on to the career that she studied for. Yet, with every loss there is a gain.  I was happy to welcome new videographers, a few freelance photographers, and an editor to my team that makes DVB an even more diverse and creative bunch.  The DVB Krewe shares my vision for videography and photography and my passion to give our clients everything they need.  To my staff, thank you for all your hard work and for our continued success in 2011.

2012 will mark my eighth year as a wedding professional and I can’t wait to get started and build on the success of 2011.  To all readers of this blog, thank you for taking time to read some of my thoughts on my clients and for my family that supports me.  Happy New Year to everyone and a great 2012.
